A day in the Life of a Florist

A day in the Life of a Florist
Most people only admire the beauty of flower bouquets without realising the time, effort, and skill that goes into crafting them. These stunning floral arrangements that light up weddings, brighten up homes, and convey heartfelt messages are an under-appreciated art form, so join us as we take a behind-the-scenes look at the artistic hands that tie together the blooms you love.
Morning: A Fresh Start
A florist's day begins by prepping the floral and foliage by trimming stems, removing any leaves that might be submerged in water, and placing them in buckets with fresh water and flower food. This step is crucial to prolong the life of the blooms and ensure they look vibrant.
Afternoon: The Creative Process
As the day progresses, we start assembling orders for daily deliveries, weddings, and events. Each arrangement is crafted with care, balancing colours, textures, and shapes to create a visually stunning and meaningful bouquet.
We work together closely with clients and event planners to understand their vision, using our creations to bring their dreams to life. This involves heavy brainstorming sessions, looking for inspiration, and a lot of returns to the discussion table.
In between, there’s often a flurry of activity with walk-in customers, phone orders, and online inquiries. Daily, our creativity is put to the test as we help customers select the perfect flowers for their needs, offer advice on flower care, and create special arrangements on the spot.
Evening: Wrap Up and Prep
As the day winds down, we start to prepare for the next. This involves cleaning the shop, restocking supplies, and prepping flowers for the next day’s orders. Before we wrap up for the day, we often take time to experiment with new arrangements or designs, staying inspired and creative. It’s a chance to unwind and let our artistic side flourish.
A Labor of Love
Being a florist is more than just arranging flowers; we want our creations to convey our passion, creativity, emotions and dedication. Each day brings new challenges and opportunities, but the satisfaction of creating something beautiful and meaningful makes it all worth it.
We’re grateful for the chance to be a part of your special moments, and we look forward to continuing to bring joy through the art of flowers. Thank you for joining us on this journey, and we hope you enjoy the next bouquet as much as we enjoyed creating it.
From everyone at The Florté, thank you for being a part of our floral family.
